Okay, I want to love this (and I do love Sandra Bullock as Toni Stark) but Thorina has metal nipples on her costume and Stephanie Rogers has had an ombre dye job. I cannot possibly take this seriously.

Preeeeetty much this. Also, Thor’s skirt is a.) not a good idea for battle and b.) way way way too short to let her move around comfortably.

And the missing stomach panel. And it’s being titled ‘If Women Ruled the Earth’. If women ruled the earth, female superheroes would be allowed to wear practical and unsexualised versions of their male counterparts outfits.

I would argue that since Steve’s costume is pretty much fabric, the exposed midriff isn’t much less protective and isn’t necessarily less comfortable than the original (colder maybe, if it’s not warm out, but since Avengers happens in the summer I’m inclined to believe we’re looking at a summer version…in which case that’s probably cooler and MORE comfortable).

Also, if Thor doesn’t care about panty shots (which let’s be real, she doesn’t) or has something like shorts under it (which she appears to maybe) she can move just fine in that skirt. It’s plenty loose and unrestrictive.

There is really no excuse for the tits on Iron Lady though. The hips and waist make it feminine enough. And yeah, the metal nipples are pretty horrifying. (So basically, I’m not saying there’s not flaws but I do like some aspects of it and I don’t think making a costume a little more sexy necessarily means it’s been a victim of the male gaze. Maybe Thor feels stronger/more confident and performs better when she shows a little thigh.)

Except Steve’s costume isn’t just fabric, it’s cutting edge lightweight armor.

Hm, I guess I must have missed that in the movie. Okay, then yes, there’s no reason for the midriff thing.
