Justin Bartels, Impression
‘The series focuses on the clothing that women think they should wear, or are told what to wear, to impress someone in a sexual manner. There is a physical mark that is left from these clothes, showing the discomfort women go through.’
not everyone wears these garments because they think they should. aren’t we always saying “i dress for myself, not for men”? i wear corsets and bras because i feel comfortable in them, and garter belts because i feel good in them.
i can say with a reasonable degree of confidence that the (male) photographer poured his model into too-tight clothing and made her wear them awhile, because i wear lingerie that fits and i’ve never had marks this extreme.
the idea behind it (“women feel pressure to be sexually appealing and that’s bad”) is good, but the execution and concept here leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

i didnt even know half of the problems that i learned about existed or that i was contributing to themAlso found out about great activists and theorists here that i wouldnt have been exposed to elsewhere!(via cheminsdudesir)

You don’t need religion to have morals. If you can’t determine right from wrong then you lack empathy, not religion.
